Among the many Parisian perks, easy traveling to European cities ranks very high in the list. Whenever Parisians have the disposable income and the time – and they do! I used to get more than 40 days of paid leave and my fidanzato about 50- it is very easy to hop into a plane for a nice change of scene. Tuscany is a solid one hour and thirty minutes by airplane from Paris. Now now, there are many airports in Tuscany so it is a rough estimation.
Why is Italy so popular? Italy is famous for history, art, dolce vita, shopping and of course very forward handsome men. Why Tuscany? Have you really missed “Under the Tuscan Sun”, “Stealing beauty”, “Letters to Juliet” or “Eat, Pray, Love” and even parts of “Twilight” ? Really? There are entire websites dedicated to movies shot in Tuscany. Firenze, or Florence, capital of Tuscany, is a city great for walks. Yes, do not even think of bringing a car inside this city. You may get too many unwanted and unplanned fines.
Undoubtedly, your boyfriend or any boy friend for that matter may feel a little challenged by great Italians, dead or alive. Show offs!
Of course, you might want to rethink your entire relationship if your boyfriend compares himself to a hog at La Fontana del Porcellino near the Ponte Vieccho. Whoever puts his hand into the hog’s mouth will get luck and come back to Firenze…
La Basilica di Santa Croce is a jewel, even to those like me who are ignorant about architecture.
Ponte Vecchio is very different to the Pont Neuf in Paris. There are many jewelers on the bridge, but I suspect the prices to be a little lofty.
Ponte Vecchio by night : there are many lounges and restaurants with a view on the bridge. Our favorite one is Ferragamo’s luxury hotel Continentale, because the place is exclusive and we love people watching.
The Chef is also obsessed with white! He probably wants to differentiate himself from…
… the best pizzas in Firenze (Caffé Italiano)…”Nothing says I love you like pizza!”
… and from the famous Bistecca all Fiorentina. Attention to all meat lovers! This city has great beef in every menu!
In case you are looking for a view other than the Ponte Vecchio, I highly recommend Gola E Cantina. Let’s not forget this blog has a “wine tasting” section. This enoteca is on the Pitti square and not only is the wine selection challenging to say the least, the food is very hearty and delicious. There are places for people watching, and there are places for the soul.
And if you are not butterflies phobic, I have enjoyed Te Con Le Farfalle (tea with butterflies).
If I really want to catch a great view of Florence, and spend a romantic afternoon with my fidanzato, I would go to the Giardino di Boboli. Horrid, isn’t it?
These pictures seem to show the same places but the following are NOT the Giardino di Boboli. San Miniato Al Monte, one of the most timeless places I have ever been.
I have even considered being burried there (once dead).
Trying very, very hard the Dolce Vita look. Boots in Italy are also worn during the summer! Don’t ask me why. And the Ferragamo belt of course.
